Popcorn Ceiling Removal

Remove the texture, skim the ceiling flat, and take twenty years off a room.

Popcorn ceilings date a house faster than almost anything else. We contain the room, remove the texture, repair what's revealed underneath, and skim the ceiling smooth. Homes built before the mid-1980s should be tested for asbestos before removal, we'll tell you when that applies.

What's included

  • Full room containment and floor protection

  • Repair of seams revealed after scraping
  • Smooth or light knockdown refinish
  • Pre-1985 homes: testing guidance before work

How we approach it

  1. 1

    Contain the space

Plastic on doorways, floors covered wall to wall, HVAC returns sealed.

  2. 2

    Remove texture

Ceiling scraped down to the original board and seams.

  3. 3

    Repair and skim

Old seams re-taped as needed, then skimmed flat across the ceiling.

  4. 4

    Sand and clean

Sanded smooth, vacuumed, and left ready for primer.

This is probably you if…

  • Your ceilings still have 1980s spray texture
  • You're refreshing a house before selling
  • You're already repainting and want it done right
